Lee -
You and I have both been on this list for a long time, and I would hope we
have each come to know something about the other. I never said anything to
imply that people should not express their opinions about art. Go back and
read my post again.

Did I say all art critics? No, and I stand by my contention that "People
who talk LONG AND LOUD about which art is good and which art is bad are just
self-righteous pricks." There are some good art critics out there along
with plenty of self-righteous pricks. I don't know if it is a basic quality
of people willing to enter that profession, or whether it is part of the
"leapfrogging of artistic styles," where a new style comes along and
supplants a previous one which was the new thing a few years ago, and on and
on. Art critics often become infatuated with some new thing, and they will
"make" the career of the artist who is the object of their infatuation,
while at the same time they will "break" an artist who's art they do not
understand or approve of. They have amazing power, and they misuse it a
lot.
