Dear Patrice:

There are a number of galleries in the area of St. Louis City known as the Central
West End. There are also a number of galleries located in Clayton, a suburb not
far from downtown. I have a working studio--definitely not a fancy place--your
hotel concierge can give you directions to either the Central West End (my first
choice) or to Clayton. Hope this helps. Enjoy St. Louis.

Patrice -
St. Louis Museum of Art in Forest Park is wonderful. It is an extraordinary
museum all around (largely due to the beneficience of Mr. May of the May
Company department stores). The have an extraordinary collection of
Precolumbian ceramics, a nice small collection of contemporary Japanese
ceramics, lots of Islamic, European Baroque, some Renaissance Italian
maiolica, and lots more that I cannot remember. Oh yes, a wonderful
collection of Chinese Shang and Chou Dynasty bronze ritual vessels (2500 BC
to 1000 BC), which are not clay, but are amazing, and had a huge impact on
subsequent clay vessels.

Duane Reed Gallery on Taylor Street several blocks east of Kings Highway
usually has quite a bit of ceramics. I cannot remember the good crafts
gallery on the Delmar Loop in University City. Someone else might know it.
Best wishes -
- Vince
