For majolica buffs, Canadian potter and author of a recent majolica
book, Matthias Ostermann , is teaching at Arrowmont this spring. Should
be interesting. He's not been available in the U.S. much, but has taught
in Australia and Europe. His methods are a bit different than some of
the other majolica practitioners.
He's at Arrowmont School this spring.

Matthias Ostermann - Ceramicist - full-time studio artist, author,
illustrator and workshop leader, Montreal, Quebec

Explore a full range of surface decoration techniques as applied to
domestic non-functional and architectural ceramics, focusing on
earthenware majolica. Bring your own simple form low-fire bisque ware or
use available commercial tile for use in glazing and decoration.
Demonstrations will be enhanced by slide presentations providing a
visual appreciation of both historical and contemporary majolica.
Basic Skills Expected - Basic throwing, glazing and general studio
skills required. March 25-29
