window in your kiln

now, goodness me, if god would have wanted
windows in kilns we would already have them.

stop fussing, you know, `i wanna window in my kiln.`

not suppose to have one.
against the rules.

if we had windows in kilns:

we would not get any work done during firings...we would
be staring in there...`man, look at those flames, see that smoke
swirl, hey sheila, come look`.

we would not keep the settings in place. `my, my, should change
things, don't like the look of the color of that flame.`

we would invite friends over to `see the kiln fire`.

we would do water color paintings, or take pictures in the kiln.

so, as you can see..no windows has a purpose...a good purpose.

marta would want to watch her shino pots fall apart.
joyce would write a three thousand word essay on the
`essence of color on the mojave and it's relationship
to kiln color.` and then she would be encouraged to do
a book on it.
dannon would tell us to hush, `just watch the colors`.
merrie burner would swoon, seeing the ash melt.
tony would just drink wine and stare all day...touching
himself.
vince would relate the fire to two thousand years of clay.

no, no...no windows, we have enough already.
a great holiday to you all.
where ever you are.
the new year beckons, it will be better.
turn the page.
it is time.
love, mel
