speaking of lithium & zinc in glazes...

Mike Bailey's Cone ^6 Glaze book has quite a few glazes using both lithium
carb and zinc oxide. I haven't tried any of them but I bet there must be
some Clayarters out there who have? Anybody?

BTW, I've only tried the Orange Red Iron Base Glaze and I used Spodumene
because I didn't have any Lithium Carb; changed the recipe accordingly to
agree with the formula analysis. No surprise, but my tests didn't look a
thing like Mike's, though they were reddish. I then got some Lithium Carb
and tried it again, and all I got was YUK brown.

I think one has to be an optomist to work with clay.
All the best of the Season,
Carol
