rolling pin (was: the studio turkey baster)

When the rolling pin ends up in the studio and not the
kitchen, use what our grandmothers did: a clean glass
bottle (label removed), filled with cold water and
tightly closed cap or stopper. In these days of
refrigerators, keep it there before using to roll out
pastry. You will probably be complimented on extra good
pastry... Keeping it cold throughout does the trick:
Cold hands, cold equipment, a cold surface to roll on
(traditionally marble) and a cold pin too... You cannot
fail!

Janet Kaiser - Have a good Thanks Giving y'all... I
made our pumpkin into Pumpkin Chutney this year, but
will be thinking of you tucking into the goodies...
