Jim,

I have one on my kiln and the literature says it doesn't get but about
140*F. It is attached to ordinary dryer venting stuff, so I don't think it
needs insulation; mine has none. :)

I am installing an envirovent on a used Skutt 1027 that I bought used. Could
someone tell me how hot the vent pipe is a couple of feet from the kiln; does
it need some sort of insulation where it goes through the wall? If so, how
much of what type?
TIA,

Mine is going through the wall with no extra insulation or special
consideration. It doesn't really get hot. wanda

Just a note of thanks for the answers (on and off list) regarding passing the
envirovent exhaust through a wall. I think that with this info, I can finish
this project this weekend and test fire the kiln.
Thanks again,
Jim Mason

Dear Jim,

If you are using the Skutt Envirovent, you do not need to be concerned with
hot exhaust, The system blends ambient air with hot kiln fumes. Be careful
to not drill too many holes!
