Here's the best song about clay/pottery:

Potter's Wheel
by Bill Danoff

Em D E

Em D E
The World is fast becoming younger, the news is all they've ever known
Em
D Em
they've seen the wars, the hurt, the hunger How will they choose when
they are grown.
D E
What do you tell forever's children when its their turn to hurt and
heal
Em D Em
whatever spins the grim tornedo can also turn a potter's wheel

C#m E C#m E C#m E
B E
take a little clay put it on the wheel, get a little hint how gods
must feel,
C#m E C#m E C#m E B
E
give a little turn listen to it spin, make it in the shape you want
it in.

Em
D E
Tell with your life the bloody story, teach to their dreams not
burning steel
Em
D Em
it's not in bombs where lies the glory, but in what's shattered on
the field
Em
D E
The potter's wheel takes love and caring, skill and patience fast and
slow,
Em
D Em
the works it makes are easily broken once they've survived the
potter's throw

C#m E C#m E C#m E
B E
take a little clay, put it on the wheel, get a little hint how gods
must feel,
C#m E C#m E C#m E B
E
give a little turn, listen to it spin, make it in the shape you want
it in.

Em D E
Some day some children will be digging in some long forgotten ground
and
Em D Em
they'll find our civilization or what's left of it to be found
Em D E
they'll find the weapons of destruction but buried deeper in the hole
Em D Em
they'll find a message and a promise, in the sand, the potter's bowl

C#m E C#m E C#m E
B E
take a little clay, put it on the wheel, get a little hint how gods
must feel,
C#m E C#m E C#m E B
E
give a little turn, listen to it spin, make it in the shape you want
it in.

C#m E C#m E C#m E
B E
take a little clay, put it on the wheel, get a little hint how gods
must feel,
C#m E C#m E C#m E B
E
give a little turn, listen to it spin, make it in the shape you want
it in.

C#m E C#m E C#m E B E
Earth and water and wind conspire, with human hand and love and fire.

C#m E C#m E C#m E
B E
take a little clay, put it on the wheel, get a little hint how gods
must feel,
C#m E C#m E C#m E A A7
E
give a little turn, listen to it spin, make it in the shape you want
it in.

Subject: A clay song you can hear on your computer.

In a prior post I mentioned the work of a local tilemaker, Chuck
Fitzgerald, on view at the Museum of the Americas in Washington D.C.

He also sings a wonderful song about clay. He wrote it and
accompanies
himself on guitar.
