I use a paragon kiln and right now low fire 06 firings. I am not a =
production potter. and have been trying to achieve interesting glaze =
results sometimes refiring 4 times. The Amaco opalescents have =
yielded very nice results. Anyone have any suggestions. for prepared =
commercial glazes? Also does anyone have an opinion about peterpugger? =

Thanks, Bev Tepper"
Bev, my wife and I use Peterpugger in our home studio. I strongly recommend
it, although I have not used any of the competing pug mills. The strong
features are that we can throw in about 50lbs of clay, let it mix as much as
we want, and when we are ready turn it on to pug and let just as much as we
need to pug out, leaving the rest in the pug mill to deal with later.
Scrapes from throwing, if not too dry or too wet, just throw them back in
the pug mill. The clay is always ready, never stiff, and we are just
getting too old for any significant wedging. If you want to recycle scraps
form throwing, you need to hydrate the scrapes then dry the mass to a
desired amount of moisture, then just mix it with commercially made clay
50/50 and there you go, a new batch. Peterpugger does all the work. I would
give the Peterpugger very high consideration.
