Hi Chris!
Please don't make the mistake I did this weekend and fire when your'e =
bricks are damp. I didn't have the gas burner on long enough over night =
and everything was still wet in the morning. The result was that when I =
lit the fire masses of steam came of,followed by a series of pinging =
noises at about 400'C. When I opened up the next day the whole load was =
covered in the debris of the inside layer of bricks (presumably the =
steam couldn't escape,or it dried too quickly--it was the same effect as =
frost on a flowerpot) Anyway, lesson learnt the hard way and my kiln is =
now safely covered up and ready to try again!
Good luck! Jane.
