amaco wheel

I have what might be the same wheel. I'm not sure about the model number,
but the one I have fits the description. I find the slow speed too fast and
the fast speed too slow for throwing, but it works fine for trimming. I
have it set up as permanant trimming station with a switch at a convenient
height to control the on off. I leave the toggle set to high. It seems to
be a high quality machine...it certainly has lasted me for years of daily
use.

Rogier -
What are you referring to above? Why would anyone pay $1000 for a used
wheel (unless it was a Soldner) when you can get a very good one brand new
for less than $1000??

$1000 dollars sounds kind of crazy to me too. They
are large, cumbersome, have heads that require plaster
inserts, and HEAVY. Everybody here seems to want only
electric.

And you can get clay boss types for $400 new. and new
yorks for $350.

Anybody else?

Hey Vince,
Around here ,used wheels are very hard to come by. Since they are so
expensive ( The wheel that Elizabeth was asking about retails for
1325 - 1950.) I run into used kilns ALL the time.... dime a dozen...
so to speak. Used wheels are rare...

Used wheels are rare here too. BUT the cost of a new
one HAS to be significantly more than the used one for
the used one to that expensive. Common sense says that
if a used wheel is that expensive without a warranty,
then a new one had better be MUCH more. And they
aren't. I don't care where you are in the U.S. you can
get a good deal from Bennett's. We had a clay supply
company here who would match any other legitimate
offer. Buy out of state if you have too, shipping will
be a little higher, but is often offset by other issues
and things you DON"T pay.

You did good!
Wasn't aware that Self Centering Clay is still being made! What
