Hi, my husband and I are going to be in the Denver, CO area around
Christmas time visiting with his family. I was wondering if anyone
could recommend some good galleries (especially those handling pottery)
that I could check out while I'm there? Thanks.

The Best gallery in Denver is the Show of Hands in Cherry Creek. In Boulder
which is about 40 miles away the Middle Fish Gallery on the east end of the
Pearl St mall is a nice small gallery and there are several other galleries
as you head west. It is a great place to visit. Have fun!

Patty,
Do not miss the Natural History Museum downtown. It is small but has a very
high quality Native American Collection and educational programs that are
quite fun and often "hands on". Not a gallery but a good family outing.

there is an excellent one in downtown Evergreen, not that far out of Denver.

It's been too many years since I lived in Denver, but after reading the
posts I guess I should mention that you would want to see the Denver Art
Museum- downtown. There use to be a lot of galleries South of the Museum on
Broadway, but that was more than 10 years ago. If you go to Cherry Creek (an
area about 5 miles East of Downtown) you will find many great galleries. In
the North West part of the metropolitan area is the suburb of Arvada where
the Arvada Arts Center is located (I may have the name wrong because I
forgot), it is a great Center dedicated to teaching. Someone mentioned the
Natural History Museum, but if that's you cup of tea, go see the main Museum
in City Park. A huge collection of fully assembled dinosaurs and a super
rock collection. Otherwise Denver is a big City with a lot of Galleries all
over the place. Have fun.

Show of Hands is good, and it's in an area that has several nice galleries
within walking distance. Down in Cherry Creek if memory serves me. Also,
the sixteenth street mall has some nice shops and is a good resting point
for a mid day breather. chris
