if making it all add up to 100 is really a concern (which to most of us it
is not) add all the parts up. you will get 77.5. this is 100% of the
recipe. here is the tricky part. devide 100 by 77.5. you will
get:1.29032258064516129032258064516129. for the sake of sanity, i round
this number to 1.29. if you choose, you can leave it at this number and you
will get an exact result. if you are using a calculator, you could store
this number to memory but you are goig to have problems when weighing out
.59999! so here is where we are:

100/77.29=1.29

now take 1.29 and multiply it with all the ingridents in the recipe. in the
recipe you provided,

Black Copper Oxide 2.5 * 1.29=3.225
> manganese Dioxide 48*1.29= 61.92
> China Clay (EPK) 15*1.29=19.35
> Ball Clay 12*1.29=15.48

your new total is: 99.975. does this make it any easier? we could make it
add up to 100 but that would make your recipe:

Basic Bronze
> Black Copper Oxide 3.2258064516129032258064516129025
> manganese Dioxide 61.935483870967741935483870967728
> China Clay (EPK) 19.354838709677419354838709677415
> Ball Clay 15.483870967741935483870967741932

even then you come up with: 99.999999999999999999999999999962. ahhhhhhhhh

okay now that your brain has exploded, i would work with the formula that
was given to you. if you want a bigger batch, double it. triple it.
remember that there is roughly 2500 grams in a gallon. if you wanna gallon
of this stuff, multiply the recipe (2500/77.25) by 32.26

Black Copper Oxide 80.65
> manganese Dioxide 1548.48
> China Clay (EPK) 483.9
> Ball Clay 387.12

your total is 2500.15. (see i rounded again and got an extra .15!)

good luck...
