Dear John,

My friend and studio mate, Jonna, has been using a
CI wheel which belongs to another friend, Kim. The
motor went bad (could happen to anyone--not their
fault, of course--just one of those things).
Jonna, with Kim's permission, sent the motor in to
CI to be replaced. They replaced it, but sent a
bill for labor and a new motor. Jonna has paid the
bill. The wheel was under warrantee (such was
acknowledged by CI) but since Jonna sent it in,
with her return address, and not Kim's, CI refuses
to honor the warrantee. CI makes good wheels, but
this leads me to question their customer service
ethic. I will not buy a wheel from them.

Because of this, Jonna has decided to purchase her
own wheel. She has elected not to go with CI. I
don't blame her.

Get the Pacifica. It is less expensive, but not cheaper. Table is bigger
and is not that yucky yellow color. It is also quieter. :)

John -

Get a Pacifica. It's a "no brainer".

John,
I've had a Pacifica GT 400 since 1983--before Laguna bought them out and
took over production. It's been my "daily driver" ever since. In 1996 I
upgraded to the new control pedal and electronics module. Kept old one as a
spare--it worked fine, but I wanted the better speed control of the new one.
Otherwise haven't had to replace so much as a bearing or a belt. Still
quiet as a mouse, and the plastic cladding is a unique bittersweet orange
color so popular in the early 80's. Now I believe they're white. Assuming
Laguna has kept the quality of the components and assembly up, I'd say go
for it!

Go with Pacifica.
I'm very happy with my 2 GT 400s One very old (1978) and orange (motor =
replaced about 10 yrs ago) and my 'new' one from 1996. Both quiet and =
reliable.
