Greetings,

I can't believe the amount of replies I've recieved both on and off clay art
from my posting of 'Loss of Passion.' I've spent the past several days
reading and rereading all of them, even the ones that were based on mine and
had gone down another avenue. Hell, I even went back to the archives and
found a posting I had sent in a couple of years ago...'Lifeless Pots.'

I realized a lot of things as I read through the posts...The first being,
this past summer I went to nearly every single farmers market nights in my
local town. From May to the end of September. When it was finally over,
several of the vendors wanted me to run as president. Luckily, I was not
elected. Now, I nolonger have to be committed to the local market. What a
relief!

Second, another thing I had realized, I haven't had anytime off for the past
3 years. Sure, there might've been a couple days here of there, but it
seemed getting ready and making pots for one summer turned into the next and
then the next.

And Lastly, I would beat myself up for wasting what I thought was good
production time. I now realize it was my brain saying...I need some time
off. Especially, since I had clay on the brain 24/7 for how long!

Well, I'm going to take sometime off. I picked up a model to build. I went
into my local hobby shop and bought their hardest model to build. I wanted
a challenge. I'm going to go through and edit a novel I had written about 5
years ago. It's been sitting around for a time like this. Reload some
ammo. Go hunting. Maybe even work on my model trains.

I even decided to make some pots that are not within my regular items...I
made a couple faceted teadbowls so far. Loosely thrown, heavily grogged.
Maybe go with a "SHE-KNOW."

I'm not going to completly give up my addiction to clay, but only do other
things within it.

Thanks everybody for the ideas, help and the swift kick in the pants.

Great news, Steve. Smart of you to ask opinions rather than to internalize
only. Dorothy
