Forgot to mention that last year I narrowed my burner ports by 1/2
inch all the way around, using soft brick. I did this to cut down on
the secondary air. I also narrowed my flue by 1/2 inch. I was
looking at the Baileys at NCECA, and noticed that the burner ports
were smaller than my model, and had a talk with I think it was Steve
about it, and he said to try making them smaller. Feriz (?) from ITC
recommended making the flue smaller, so what the heck I did both. I
also use 8 " posts on the bottom of the kiln, and that has really
helped to even out the temperature.
Meticky Liz

p.s. someday I am going to get one of those oxygen probes, but right
now, I think I might have the thing figured out.

Thanks for your help. Called Bailey and we both agreed someone had choked
back the damper area when re-locating the kiln. I removed some bricks that
were around the top of the damper area. It seems so far to be running much
better! And even. ( I'm firing it today!) It used to have the "T" fornmation
but we're using 11" shelves (3) and they're fine.
Thanks
Phyllis
