Cher,

I don't know if you're weakening the shelves--I'm
guessing not, if you don't break them outright.
But don't breathe that dust. It's baaaad.

Stop me before I do something stupid! I'm a newbie with my first kiln and I
"THINK" I've found an easy way to clean the many layers of wash off the used
kiln shelves. Anyone out there ever used an electric paint chipper? It
vibrates the old wash right off the shelves but I'm worried that I might be
weakening the shelves. Any advice?

When I grind the shelve at the art center I put them on a surface that
cushions them, so that I am less likely to crack them i think.
