I am more than touched by the response to the exhibition I
proposed.
You have finally allowed some of the tears that I have kept inside
flow. I have to say once again that this group has been an anchor
in my life over the past eight or so years, as I know it has been for
many of the rest of you. Thanks
I will not go on with this to extreme because we have a lot to do,
but it is my hope that you understand the depth of this thanks.
I do not have a gallery in mind and am open to offers and
suggestions. I am thinking a Memorial Day or July 4th opening
might be appropriate.
That piece I did "Within this House" is really haunting me these
days. Why can't we figure it out? We share the same house.
Let's get on with it.....

Lowell,
Russell proposed that there be some "virtual" space where it would be=20=
easier for members of this community from outside the US to participate.=
=20
If such a decision is made, then I would be more than happy to help=20
structure and maintain that space. I also believe that I could provide =
a=20
free presence at my ISP, owned by a close friend who has a track record =
of giving free space to non-profit causes that he believes in.=20

Claybuds...
Why not approach the RENWICK here in DC for the exhibition? They are the
craft gallery for the nation... Then there's the ACC gallery in NYC too.
Not being familiar with the West Coast, there must also be some place there,
and some place in the Midwest also.
What do you think???

Dear Clayart and Lowell -
I am very moved and excited about the idea of doing an exhibition to
benefit survivor families.
We have been affected by this tragedy on a very personal level, as my
husband's brother is missing. He leaves a wife and a 5 year old son,
who is severely autistic. =20
I have been helping my sister in law, and my husband's entire family
as well as I can, phoning everyone, filing the necessary reports,
working with his employer, etc. (Richard worked for the Port
Authority, who lost 200 employees). All the legwork and phone calls
are at a standstill right now. We sit and wait, pray, and try to
deal.
I would happily volunteer to organise this event, or assist in making
it happen. I am a lifelong New Yorker and feel like I need to do
more. I am delighted that Lowell came up with such a wonderful idea;
one which centers around one of my main loves in life - clay. Finally,
a way I can do more!
I'm not quite sure where this project stands or where to start. If
anyone can post an update on it, or email me privately, that would be
great. Sorry, but I have been only reading my mail sporadically. If
it is still only in the idea phase, I will be happy to get the ball
rolling. Let me know if you want to help.
Lastly, we will likely be setting up a charity for my nephew, which I
will be shameless promoting. =20
Although I sometimes butt heads with people on this group, I continue
to be astonished at the outpouring of love and caring . Clay people
rule.

Mr. Lowell Baker,I hope you are doing well. I am starting my memorial
sculpture tomorrow. Although it will not be in clay it will be a very serious
peice and I would be proud and honored if you will allow it in your
exhibition,sincerely David hammel

clayart will continue as is:
for some time.
archives are protected.
nothing will change.
there will be an announcement from acers.
but, no need to speculate as to what we
should be doing.
so, carry on with clayart.
if any changes are made, it will be to upgrade
clayart as an even more professional service
to the ceramics community. our goal is to make
this a world wide professionally oriented site that
anyone with a question can get a solid answer.
if not, the archives should provide the answer.
we want to encourage our top teachers, scientists,
and professional potters to feel that they are respected and
consideration for their contribution is valid.
it is time for us/we/clayarters to seek to move this
list forward to greater clarity. to eliminate the chatty
`i/me/what can you do for me` that makes this list less
than valid.
