We tend to use the word 'manufactured' for something that has been=20
industrially made in a factory. However, the original meaning of the word,=
=20
derived from the mediaeval Latin, 'manufactura', was 'a making by hand'=20
(definition taken from A Short Etymological Dictionary of Modern English by=
=20
Eric Partridge). In other words, we potters all manufacture our pots!
