The Pyroceram trademark I'm familiar with--the restaurant/institutional =
dinnerware--is not microwave safe. That's the reason it heats in the =
microwave. It uses a lead-bearing glaze (food safe) which can be heated =
safely in the oven, but not the microwave. Most other Corning Ware is =
microwave safe--it's usually stamped or imprinted "microwave safe".

Kurt,
I do not know the answer, but pyroceram - Corning ware, which is
specifically made for use in the microwave, gets hot enough that the =
only
way to handle it is with a kitchen towl. Mia in ABQ
