I thought that anyone nearby to Washington, DC might be interested to learn
that there is an exhibition of the work of Tatsuzo Shimaoka on view at the
Japanese Embassy through September 28.
below are excerpts from an announcement I received:
"The exhibition includes an array of Mr. Shimaoka's work ranging from tea
bowls to plates, vases, boxes and jars. Emphasized is the rope patterning
for which Mr. Shimaoka was designated "Living National Treasure" by the
government of Japan in 1996."
