south african ferro frits

Dear Southern African Clayarters, Ferro here has gone=20
independant since the early nineties. They will not give
out any formulae. I have tried and failed some years ago.
I need to know a comparitive SA frit to the foreign Ferro
frit FSB3110 used in crystaline glazes. I have the formula
of FSB3110 as printed in Peter Ilsley's book. I will try the
lab at Ferro. I knew the chap running it, I hope he is still
there.=20
Perhaps the SABS (South African Bureau of Standards)
could demand the formulae and create a comparitive list
of foreign frits with corresponding SA frits. Another option
could be that Association of Potters in South Africa brings
a class action against Ferro SA to at least bring out a=20
comparitive list of foreign and corresponding SA frits, if
not the formulae. Here's hoping, but not holding my breath.

Try Frank Gaydos's Website. He offers frit comparisons and analyzes of a
number of Ferro frits. Go to "Frank Gaydos Home Page." Once there, press
"Technical" and then "Frits." You will find the comparison of Ferro, Pemco,
and Hommel frits, followed by analyses of the frits (at least the Ferro
frits).

Dear Ralph,

In our on-line Catalogue (http://www.bathpotters.demon.co.uk)
immediately under the Fritts you will find our analysis chart which
