"The creation of great art
generally calls for complete mastery of techniques"

Thanks for a thought provoking message that I'm gonna carve into a tile and
hang in my studio.

This is the best inspirational thing I have read lately ....or maybe
something in me was just ready to grasp it...Guess it was worth reading all
those posts about stuff I don't have room in my head to hold right now.

I'd been trying to decide whether to keep making cutsy, basic sellable stuff
or try some wild creative endeavor....think I'll still stay with the basics
for a while longer before trying to set the ceramics world on fire...after
all I've only been doing this 5 years!!!

Lexxey, feeling like a perennial beginner!!!

I was listening to CBC..Canadian Public Radio..
the other day and caught this snippet...

"Art is the beginning
of vision into the
realm of higher life."

The program was about Lawren Harris, one of the Group of Seven
(an artist who painted what he *saw*) unfortunately I did not catch the
title of the book that it was quoted from, but the statement
captured me enough to scribble it down on a *post it* note.

Lexxy your post made me think of it ..:)

Any reactions to this,,,??

Kathy

my own found snippet: "Art is the meeting ground of
the inner and outer world."~ Eleanor Uhlman this
particular statement captured my attention this very
day; and has given me much to ponder.

Dear Kathy McDonald,

There are always problems with poetic aphorisms

"Religion is the beginning of vision into the realm of higher life." is =
equally inspirational. Moreover, spirituality a field of humanity which =
has funded creativity in literature, music and drama as well as the =
plastic and graphic arts.

Best regards,

Ivor Lewis.
