"Did I understand your glancing reference, that you never saw a person
that had had that effect?"

I just threw that statement out there without thinking ... but now you =
have me pondering again..... twice in one week, Robert!

I don't know why, but whether it's pots or paintings, I seem to =
gravitate to landscapes with
old buildings.... often, falling-down buildings... or
fences..... or sleek "caught in time" businesses
such as that diner work from the 30s/40s ..... can't recall the artist.. =
but I like that rather austere work.... rings lots of bells. In =
photography, I tend to like tell-tale, caught-in-the-moment focus on a =
person .... or great animal shots. Oddly enough, I do examine those face =
jugs from the Carolinas when I see one ... they appeal to me ... often =
wanted to do one myself using cones for teeth... I'm sure I'm not even =
slightly original in that idea.... every boy who passes this way is =
fascinated by the cones. But, I think the only portraits I've wished I =
could own ...
are those by Rembrandt .... sort of ruin others for me..... although my =
art experience is limited, and there may be many I would like if I were =
to view them.

Odder still...... thanks for making me think... I sometimes do a person =
profile on a pot.... line drawing.... just because..... Other than =
that, I rather like putting abstract work on an occasional pot...... =
probably because that's all I can do. No training. No experience. No =
problem.
