I read once, somewhere long ago, in another life, that of all the
"professions", Artists are the only group to regularly make the greatest
contribution to their field in their older years.

Now I don't know if that's particularly true, but the reasoning behind the
statement was that in most fields, significant contributions are made in a
person's youth, when they are challenging the status quo. Artists, on the
other hand, spend their youth learning to use their tools, and later on
explore diverse paths. This continuing exploration of new ideas is well
represented here on Clayart by the many who have come to clay later in life.
Being a student, learning and exploring, keeps us alive and invigorates us
with new ideas. I can't imagine living any other way.
