Cathy, I suggest you throw another bowl. Even when you try to repair that
crack it will come back to haunt you during the glaze firing. Mia

I was reading the archives for answers about repairing cracks in bisque. I
have a bowl in the bisque state that has a small "s" crack in the bottom of
it. Someone had suggested using a furnace patching compound called rescor.
Does anyone know if you can then glaze over that repair, or do you have to
bisque again?

Thanks for any answers out there,
Cathy

Cathy,
I was the one who sent the info on Rescor. Actually, the product I used is
called Thermeez Ceramic Putty. You can apply it to either green or bisqued
pieces and allow to air dry. You will have to overfill the crack and clean it
up, but then you can glaze over it without refiring first. Just be sure it is
dry before glazing. The company info, in case you missed it is: Cotronics,
3379 Shore Parkway, Brooklyn, NY, 718-646-7996.
