Coming up for the Cherry Festival?

Bruce and Lynne Girrell are in Traverse City. We will be exhibiting in the
Elk Rapids show on July 14 and the Northwestern Michigan College show on
July 28. If you need any information about the area or wish to visit, please
let us know off-list.

just back from a two week (half of that driving) whirlwind trip to Arizona,
hoping that the last minute double-bagging of the unfinished pieces kept
them workable.

John,

For your future reference a couple of us are doing tile decorating
work up North & West of Traverse City about 30 miles, in Northport,
MI. (Last village North on the Leelanau Peninsula). We are using
the metal sulfates as colorants as per the Kurt Wild decorating
technique (stoneware, to cone 10).

In the long run I am looking forward to working with clay artists with
ambitious design ideas. Maybe we will be able to get some nice new
work out already this summer, maybe not, but I think so..... we are
experimenting with several new techniques/devices. I'll be over there
pretty regular after the 1st week in July.

Get a the annual brochure of Arts & Crafts artists in
NW Michigan from a shop, gallery or tourist info
bureau in Trav.City. It will include clay people.

Also phone Glen Arbor Art Assoc. in Glen Arbor and ask
them. Try to get to Glen Arbor - a great little
spot on Sleeping Bear Bay with a very quiet public
beach which used to be free. If you go there, visit
Becky Thatcher Jewelry artist. If it's still there,
visit Tamarack Gallery in Omena.

What you didn't ask - if the Dancing Bear fishing
charter (out of Glen Arbor) has no fisherman, you can
charter it to just cruise and see Sleeping Bear Dune
from the water side - amazing - and take you to
Manitou Island.

This is making me homesick for "up North!"
