Well, now I see that perhaps I AM making vases for Ikebana ... and that =
the Garden Club members were correct.... an ongoing diet of crow is what =
I get for being such a Smart Alec (and nobody likes a Smart Alec, as =
Mama Luce often pointed out) My vase definitely has a more or less =
organic look ... like something was going on in its development other =
than that deliberately wrought by human hands... namely mine... and =
lends itself well to unusual flower arrangements. I just may pursue =
this somewhere down the line.

As often happens in my studio, the first vase looked more
"special" than I'd expected .... so I tried (too soon, I think) to go =
bigger, taller, better...... waay bigger.... created a sloppy mess. =
Another lesson learned ..... again...=20

A good claybud told me once that perhaps I was overshooting my =
limitations of the moment, since I often move from "nice," or even "very =
nice" to outrageously bad ... he wasn't discouraging my experimenting =
and expanding... he was simply saying that perhaps I would do well to =
take smaller steps instead of these giant leaps that hurl me into new =
clay territory unprepared...... thus, avoiding discouragement while =
actually becoming proficient at creating a specific form. Good timely =
advice....

In the Mojave where the sun's too deadly for much walking after daybreak =
... I'm up before dawn ... love our spectacular sunrises!... but don't =
want to stroll the dirt roads in the dark ... afraid a coyote will get =
me ... maybe he'd follow me home... there's a thought... I'm needing a =
puppy right about now.....
