Hi, Kelly,
I am back from my workshop in Italy. Many participants are still
traveling there.
We were together for over two weeks. What a wonderful group of people.
The architectural pieces were designed and made in groups which seem to
form naturally. Their energy and excitement was really contagious. Our
big midday meal (gourmet Italian dishes) was where much of the personal
interchange occurred. We had a group of 18 which included a few spouses.
I hope to get a website up to show all their work. They were from N.J,
Wa., Ca., Tx, Fla.,RI.,Va. Our bus excursions to Siena and San Gimignano
was at first like herding cats. Artists don't like to travel in groups
but everyone adapted. Picnics on the hill tops were lots of fun.
I think only 6 came back right away. Some went to Cinque Terra and
others to Rome and Venice.
After 24 hours a day with all these people, my house and studio seem
really quiet. I feel like summer camp has ended and everyone went home!
I am gearing up for studio work but it is very quiet there. My co-op
buds are gone at the moment too.

I am also getting ready to work on the Oct. workshop in Italy. After
this first one, I think all the travel plans will fall into place more
easily. I am looking forward to the next group. I have a woman from
Israel joining in.

I like group experiences even though I like isolation at times too.
Interacting with clayartists always means learning and sharing. Fred and
Nan Paget were there. Fred is an amazing man, always curious and
thinking.

Relish the memories and make the excitement last as long as possible.
Now next week is the Bray 50th Anniversary with clay people coming from
all over. Should be great.
Ciao,
Marcia
