Lowell Baker posted yesterday and a few days previously, regarding both the
use of sawdust as a fuel, and his upcoming kiln-building workshop at my
studio in Berkeley, CA., beginning this Saturday, May 19th.
It's been a while since I mentioned the workshop on clayart, so here are
the particulars again, in case anyone missed them: Six day workshop, in
which we will build a 36 cubic foot crossdraft gas/sawdust fired kiln of
Lowell's design, fabricate one of his sawdust injection burners, and fire
the kiln with participant's pots. Fee is $200, limit of 30 people.
There are two spaces still available (Bamboo Karen in L.A. is wavering, but
I have a hunch she'll make it). To my knowledge, this is the first such kiln
that Lowell has built on the west coast. There is a high degree of interest
and energy building among participants, and I can tell that this will be an
exceptionally good workshop. If you're interested, call or email me...
