Hi Everyone;

I'm coming back onto the List to tell everyone about Raku Rhody-o 2002 which
will happen October 11-13 in downtown Providence, RI. We have lots of
exciting events planned, with a Visiting Artist who is dynamite! This is
the 6th Annual Raku Rhody-o.

Ramon Camarillo will be the 2002 Raku Rhody-o Visiting Artist! He was
featured in Ceramics Monthly in April 2002, also in ClayTimes. He does it
all -- kiln building, mega throwing, gorgeous decoration and exciting
firing! Plus we will have other workshops by Thomas Ladd, Harriet Brisson &
Lee Segal. There will be a throwing contest, wet clay workshops, aluminum
casting, a floating raku contest; not to mention Fire Dancers, the very
popular Aloha Boys band, and our
signature FireFlies-- an above ground flaming pit fire. We will also have a
wood fired glow worm kiln on site.

The Raku Rhody-o website is < www.rakurhody-o.org. > It is up but not
completely finished. Very soon artist registration forms will be available
there. In the meantime you can find out everything you need to know by
e-mailing me at
or Kris Pedersen at

October 11 - 13 is RISD Alumni Weekend so plan now if you want lodging!

several years ago, i was attending a boring work conference on the cape
and went into providence to catch a train, and in the distance i could see a
bunch of glowing forms and pulsing fires. could it be??? then, as i got
close, there was the dream right before my eyes, right in downtown,
these glowing kilns everywhere, people running around with smiles on their
faces, and children squealing (they were helping to get a pitfire
ready) - it truly was a magical event.  i had to keep pinching myself.
honestly, it was the push that convinced me to get back into clay.

based on their web site, it looks even more spectacular than ever.

have fun!!!!!
