Hello,

While I read and re-read Alisa's e.mail about the conversion mistake, I t=
oo,
and others have done the same!!! "It's a human experience."

For many of my glaze calculations I use MATRIX software which contains
molecular/weight conversions. It also contains numerous analysis from seg=
er to
my on set of limits. Alisa I know you use software calculations tools so =
you
might find MATRIX one of those valuable and affordable toys for mole perc=
ents
where you can freeze the value and then move it to weight percents and ma=
ke
the analysis. (Good eye candy)

Should anyone need any help understanding the use of MATRIX I am willing =
to
try. I have a couple other software systems/programs as well. Mr. Ewing h=
as
always been there when I needed help also! Toxicity issues have been my p=
ast
worries since I did manufacture for other companies but farmed out the
toxicology work. (Duke University and others) However it was my dime that=
paid
for the work prior to those other companies paying me so my involvment be=
came
quiet heavy there as well. The products had to pass ASTM D-4236 for Non-T=
oxic
compliance since Non-Toxic materials was what I was hired to formulate an=
d
manufacture. (Of course mis-typing Mgo and Mno got me in a fix real fast =
once
upon a written statement, where no retraction could fix it) But it was le=
sson
number one when replying to a group.

Oh - I would disclaim having any involvement with MATRIX or gaining anyth=
ing
from it but I would be lying. I have gained more using not only MATRIX bu=
t
other tools while working with glaze formulaes that I would be hard press=
ed
not to own up to some of them. Molecular weight has a slight advantage ov=
er
weight percents IMHO. Tom Buck is a great resource person and has always =
been
wonderful contributing to us his knowledge and understanding. (I'm not su=
re he
understands me at times?) So Alisa keep up the great work and know all yo=
ur
wonderful efforts have always been highly appreciated. Your last post onl=
y
proves how responsible you are and how deep your feelings are in regards =
to
your work. :) I do have a small library and coversion tables should anyon=
e
need access to any of them.

Wollastonite Mole weight 116.125 (LOI 1.6800) Whiting 100.366 (LOI 43.400=
0)
these are raw materials mole percents for the above as I show them. Whiti=
ng
shows to contain trace Fe,AL, and SiO2. Wollastonite also carries trace
materials. But a system that can convert these should only be more of a h=
elp
since reducing your work load is always a great advantage. Converting to=

weight percents or weight to mole percents are one of the tools MATRIX of=
fers.
(Note: I am aware others offer these as well but I am stating what I use =
for
the intent and purpose of my own statement and ease of use)

Alchemy 101 - A great potter usually can be found in a great person. (Per=
tains
to potters in this case) I write too long so I only write on occasion now=

days. I can't seem to sum up science and chemistry and human analogy in a=

sentence yet. Maybe in time? =
