MERKLEYS on sat 5 may 01

Sorry folks, my computer ate the first attempt to send this info. so
here goes. Attempt no.2
The receipts come from c.m. I think , I gleen information from all
over and stick it in a large note book but I rarely include the authors
name thus I have no way to acknowledge the originator, Whom I would like
to thank.
I have tried only the cone 06overglaze and it worked very well on my
base glaze which was a cone 03 gerstley borate glaze.
I used a generic brand sodium silicate, , I would imagine sodium
silicate is sodium silicate, but the recipe calls for n brand.

AS TAKEN FROM C.M.

to weight out sodium silicate use a paper cup as it adheres to glass or
glazes. Use glazes with sodium silicate same day made or sodium silicate
will come out of solution.
The surface sheen and fluid quality of the following glazes are
strongly influenced by firing length as well as the under lying glaze.
To fine tune the over glaze adjust the flux content.
