blackware firing in electric kiln report

I just talked on the phone with Michael Wisner and he provided the
information that follows as I understood it.

He puts a metal piece on the floor of the kiln with sand around the edge =
to
seal where he will put an inverted drum later. Then he sets his pot rack
with pots on it or pots directly on the metal already placed there. He
turns on his kiln and brings it up slowly to fully dry out the pots - he
did not say how long but he did say to 300 degree F. I suppose it depen=
ds
on the nature of your electric kiln - number of switches etc. and how fas=
t
it goes up on one switch. Then at 300 he tosses in sawdust under the rac=
k
or around the pots and puts the cover over the pot rack and into the san=
d
to seal it. Close the kiln lid or door leaving it open about 1/2". Then
turn the kiln on full. Bring temperature up to 1400 degrees F. And hope
for beautiful results.
