HI Paul,

I'm no expert but have an idea about this anyway. We know it takes time =
for
a glaze to run. I think that heat is retained slightly longer inside a
bowl, because it reflects back on itself, therefore the glaze gains a lit=
tle
extra time at a "liquid" temperature.

I have noticed that my bowls and vases which have been glazed an Iron Red=
,
develop a nicer color inside, and I have conjectured that reason is the
same- slower cooling inside a vessel.

I guess a way to test this would be to set a bowl within a bowl, and see
whether the outside also runs.
