wax results

Besides noting the varied results when using wax on shino glazed pots,
I've had exciting results with wax on Angel Eyes, too. Yes, I'm still
experimenting with Jack Troy's Angel Eyes... something like three years
now ... at least a couple pots in every load, even with all copper reds,
for which I use a completely different firing schedule. Angel Eyes
sometimes appears much like a Woo Blue when fired to ^10 ... nice ...
but when layered with other glazes and/or waxed all over, or with wax
applied in specific areas ... in a pattern, for example ... it offers
sometimes incredibly different looks. Something about the wax seems to
bring out the rutile with all its lavenders and shades of blues ... but
have gotten burgundy touches or even dark yellow ONCE.... small ovalish
shapes... hence the name??? Has anybody else had this experience?

This is my next favorite drive-me-bananas glaze after all the shinos.

I'm starting on the list of 20 something suggestions for enhancing shino
that a not-to-be-named claybud sent... so he won't be deluged. Will
report on any unexpected results. Four years now for shinos ... can
ALMOST control the Cracked Shino ... which only I and a few other
fanatics even like. Thank you, Tom Coleman.

What a way to live! Love it. And to think I might still be moonlighting
in a student teacher training program for the university where I spent
my first six months of retirement ... or completing that doctorate I was
two-thirds through ... where I felt comfortable, snug and seldom
challenged. Don't think art/clay was my destiny ... but sure glad I was
accepted.
