If you do decide to use yellow ochre, you should keep in mind that
different sources of yellow ochre can give widely different results. I use
it to modify the cobalt in a glaze that has been a soft blue-grey, much
like faded denim. When it recently started firing to a baby blue I had to
start testing. After checking that the ochre I had just used was
theoretically what I had been using all along, I tried a different
company's yellow ochre and the glaze came out very green. I'm pretty sure
that it is differing amounts of titanium that is causing the color shift.
If you need to control the color as I do, there is a downside to ochre.
