Dear Ababi and my friends on Clayart-

It's amazing what happens when one utters a few
syllables or writes them. I posted yesterday that i
had so far had no problems with Laguna borate. Well, I
shouldn't have written that, becuause opening my kiln
this morning, cone 6, ox., there was a hold load of
pots except one that had signs of shivering. Patches
really. Spots here and there. Each small, 1/16" to
3/4" , some a lot, like a 12" bowl with the glaze off
the rim, to a mug with one 1/2" roundish spot. The
insides of all the pots were fine, but this all
occured on the outside.
So, time to try something else. Will keep you all
advised. The Raku glaze, tho, was great!!!

Hello Gregg.
My supplier did not release the 4 K'g of Laguna borate he brought. I will
wait for my next raku. About ^6 I think , it might be used or tested in two
ways.As it is and through a software, means probably to reduce the alumina
in other materials as it has about 8% alumina.
In my case I try , at least for ^6 to use a borax frit. Unless the need is
for more than30 % G.B. Than perhaps you should use Cadycal. I have some of
it, in raku I did not succeed yet. I will try again. I think the North
American potters must have a variety to buy more frits. Do not worry to ruin
the American industry, they make mine and yours in Portugal Spain and Italy!
