I wanted to post this to Clayart, in case you know (or are) someone who
is interested in these opportunities in Florida.

ARTIST RESIDENCIES AND ASSISTANTSHIPS IN CERAMICS

ARMORY ART CENTER
West Palm Beach, FL

The Armory Art Center anticipates openings for two Artist in Residence
positions in ceramics for 2001-2002. Accepted applicants will have
unlimited access to a newly remodeled, well equipped ceramics facility
in West Palm Beach, Florida, in exchange for approximately eight to ten
hours per week of work in the ceramics studio. Artists in residence
will also have the opportunity to teach classes for wages and to assist
in the Master Artist Workshop program, which takes place during the
winter months. There will also be exhibition opportunities in the
Armory=92s galleries. Priority will be given to applicants who have
earned an MFA or equivalent, and who have outstanding portfolios of
ceramic work.

Also anticipated are two work/study assistantships for applicants who
have earned a BA or BFA and have a good working knowledge of ceramics
and studio operations. Accepted applicants will have unlimited access
to the studio in exchange for approximately eight to ten hours per week
of work in the ceramics studio. There will also be exhibition
opportunities in the Armory=92s student gallery. If you are looking for =
a
place to work for a year or so, while building your portfolio in
preparation for graduate school or building your own studio, this might
be what you are looking for.

The Armory Art Center Ceramics Studio has 18 electric potters wheels,
slab rollers, extruders, clay mixing equipment, and a kiln complex with
a 40 cu. ft. gas fired car kiln, a 15 cu. ft gas fired raku car kiln and
a top hat raku kiln, as well as numerous electric kilns ranging from 7
to 20 cu. Ft. Upcoming projects include the construction of wood, salt
and additional stoneware kilns.
