A comment in CM for February referred back to the December issue. Having =
satisfied my inquisitiveness on a couple of points brought up in the =
letters and technical pages I browsed through the Classified Adds. In =
one, for a ceramic workshop at Sedona Arts Centre, I found mention of =
students being offered a hands on experience with Biz Littel "...using =
his metallic-vapour-glazing technique..".
Now, I am aware that metallic salt solutions can be used to create =
lustres as a post firing or post maturing technique on glazed wares but =
producing a glaze from a metallic vapour seems to be something new into =
the ceramic spectrum.
Has anyone any information about this process. Are there any references =
to original research into this process or its invention. Is it mentioned =
in Chemical or Ceramic Abstracts? Which metals are being used? Are they =
vaporised with a Plasma torch?
I have a residual technical interest in such processes.
