Hi, Tony (and others)!

I am truly beside myself with frustration. I tried to follow your suggestion
on your web page (http://digitalfire.com/insight/im5.htm), INSIGHT 5.0
Ceramic Glaze Software for Macintosh. I purchased Virtual PC 4.0 in order to
run some of the glaze calculation programs that are not fully available in
the Mac format. I have a Macintosh PowerBook G3, with OS 8.6. I downloaded
and installed Insight Demo within Virtual PC 4.0 (installation was
successful), but cannot get it to do anything: I am unable to test Insight.
When I double click or try to open the Eagle icon I receive the following
message: Object variable not set. Obviously, this is not as trivial as you
make it sound on your website. In addition, I am unable to print from
Virtual PC (Connectix is aware of the problems and claims to be working on
it), and will be unable to take the glaze calculation away from the computer
and into my studio. I am hoping that you or someone else can help me, but if
not, I think that you and others should be aware of the problems. I spent
$200 for Virtual PC 4.0, not to mention the cost of the additional memory
(ordered, paid for, but not yet received), and software infrastructure. I am
truly hoping that this is not a waste of money (not to mention time)!!! What
a disappointment!!! At this point, I wouldn't recommend this to anyone.
Please help!!! ... It could just be my ineptness...

Sincerely,
Paulette Carr

I have been using Insight for PC for some time on my iMac with system
9.04 using VPC v 3. It was important to download from within Insight
and it installed correctly, runs and prints. I used IE from VPC for
the download.

Ian,
I was eavesdropping because I have just gotten (Ebay) Virtual PC v. 4 plus
Windows 98. Haven't downloaded it yet, but talked to Tony at Nceca about
sending to him for Insight. So, do you think I will have a problem
downloading from what he sends me? My Mac is a G3, OS 8.6. --Appreciate
any and all information. --Gail

Gail and Paulette,

Some more comments on this.

Having gotten Windows and pretended my Mac was a PC, I can tell you
that the Mac OS has much greater appeal to me. Of interest is the
fact that Mr. Glaze, Ron Roy is a Mac user!

When downloading Insight, there are some different options. One is
to get it in parts. Maybe Paulette did not get some part, perhaps
the MDT.

More to the point - there IS now a Mac version available from the
website. It is available for free at this time, and although it is
not a final version it seems to work well. It is much simpler than
booting up VPC and running in that. One bit of advice - keep the
..sit file you get. I have had to reinstall the program several
times. It seems to corrupt itself somehow. Reinstalling, however is
about a 30 second job. Tony says it has some glitches, but it seems
pretty reliable to me, and beats the *** out of making my Mac into a
PC.

Best of luck.

Ian
