Hi Llwellyn, I use lustres on a white clay glazed with a transparent =
glaze and fired to Cone 6. You can also use them on Cone 9 glazed pots. =
Once I have taken them out of the glost kiln, I wipe them with a pure =
Turps that I get from a local chemist shop. {drug store?}. This cleans =
the pot which is important. I then apply the lustre to the pot and fire =
to 800oC. Make sure your work area is well ventilated. When firing them =
it is very important to have plenty of ventilation and stay out of the =
area while firing. The fumes given off are very toxic. Lustred pots =
can't be used in the microwave because of their metal content, and =
they're unsuitable for dishwashers. If you're applying them to an =
unglazed piece, they will be quite rough, also I don't think the colours =
will show up on an iron glaze. Mind you, I haven't tried putting lustres =
on dark glazes, apart from Halo gold which when you apply it, shows up =
as little halos - quite pretty. Also if you're using different colours, =
be careful to not mix them by using different brushes for each colour. =
Anyway, all the best and have fun.=20
