nceca dress code

The following comes from an email from Jim Connell, who is
organizing things in Charlotte for NCECA:

"Adams Mark Hotel Entertainment

The Adams Mark Hotel has a sports bar with a very rigid dress
code. Our type will never come up to their standards and we have
tried to get them to relax their policy for out conference. They
have refused for reasons I would rather not go into. Minerva and
I have persuaded the management to have the large area by the
Ballroom be turned into a temporary bar/social area. On
Wednesday and Thursday night they will have drinks served after
each nights activities (Keynote & Randall). Let your friends know.
Minerva insisted that they not open/serve drinks until the activities
are
finished.

All 600 rooms at the Adams Mark Hotel will be used by NCECA
attendees. PARTY!!! "

So does anyone know just what the dress code is exactly in their silly
sports bar? I assume that Terry Sullivan will be out of luck in his
flip-flops and swimming trunks, but will mel in his sport coat and Dave
"The Suit" Finkelnberg have this place all to themselves? Is it coat
and tie, just tie, or just no T-shirts? If it's just a tie, I suggest
we all bring a couple of extras for those who didn't get the word.
Ladies, you're on your own here.

Hi Everybody!

I wonder if the "no shirts, no shoes, no service" policy is in effect. If
that's the case, I'll go there wearing no pants. But then I rarely patronize
sports bars or any bars, since I'm a completely devoted tea-totaller.

Unfortunately, I'll be unable to witness the circus of potters streaking, or
wearing bathrobes in the hotel lobby, etc. Best wishes to everyone who
attends the NCECA convention!

Yours in the buff, when the weather allows,

I hope not to serious a code, some of us intrepid travelers from europe will
find it hard to carry our tiaras and tap shoes although Wayne has promised
me a delicious lemon yellow boa.....

and the thing to do pile gets higher....

Christie,
looking forward to meet you,
Jeans, jeans and... jeans.... casual....
I took a big suitcase full of dress-up posibilities... never bothered...
some ladies wear red high hills for the dance.
And yes , if you have time to go back to your hotel and change, dress up,
last year we just hung around at the clayart room till very late and we loved meeting this great CLAYART crowd, our family.

See ya there...

There are absolutely no dress codes or requirements
it is come as you , individually , are

I usually see it as a professional event, though some years I am more
into professional mode, and other years not as much
usually I want to be comfortable and casual, because I am moving
around, walking a lot!

Nowadays I work in a clay studio almost every day of the year, though,
and sometimes, by the time NCECA
rolls around
I am overdue for a novel , refreshing experience
i.e. wearing something other than jeans, tied back hair, cotton tee
shirt, sports bra and workboots!
I like to put those completely away for a week .
wear clothes that have never seen clay dust. What a concept!
but that's just me,
you will see every variety of attire,

so whatever you wear
you'll be fine!!

Well, I just couldn't keep quiet on this. While there is no formal dress
code, I think certain fashionistas have gently hinted that perhaps a yellow
feather boa and red sneakers (worn with, of course, the standard sexy jeans)
would be most appropriate for the Clayart crowd at NCECA. Gail, Lisa, and I
tossed around the idea of red bras too but kind of shelved it. Didn't want
to leave the guys out. I have personally found a most divine pair of red
sneakers that are lined in blue. What more could one ask for?!
See all of you lovely creatures soon!
