mist pump

I was in a shop yesterday, delivering an order. There was a wonderful
fountain running with mist rising all around it. The shop owner showed me
the box the mist pump had come in, and it is: Smoker-sm-R3 mist pump from
JenZong Art Industires in Taiwan.
Has anyone seen this or another brand of mist pump advertised in a ceramics
catalog, or elsewhere?
Thanks,
Rosanne

That would an ultrasonic peizo crystal mister. They are used to make a nice
humid environment for some kinds of reptiles and amphibians. You can order
one at a pet store. Costs about 60 or 70 US dollars. They are made in
Taiwan.
We used one in an orchid show exhibit a few years back. There was one
Chinese Cymbidium orchid dealer from Southern California who approached me
with a better price. He was selling them as humidifiers for orchids in a
Wardian case ( a sort of terrerium full of orchids). They are also
sometimes available as sickroom vaporizers from a drug store (Chemist).

Rosanne,
I have a mist pump purchased from a Discovery Channel
Store. It is called Mist Maker and retailed for 40.00.
On the box is written that it de-ionizes the room and
you can add aromatic oil to the water if you like.

I don't know if you have a Discovery Store in your area,
but you might try online. I have seen these pumps in
other shops, but they were more expensive. Mine is
very small and produces a nice volume of mist. Also
has a little light so the plant I have over it looks very
nice a night.

Rosanne,

In my research for ultrasonic nozzles I found a number of companines offering
low cost units. Below I have captured the rather interesting text (technical ripe
and steady?) from the web site of NANHAI CHAONENG ELECTRONIC

Rosanne - Was this a table top fountain? If so, you could try one of these
sites - I'm not sure what their reputations are like - I found them while
doing a search for mini-pumps some time ago.

http://www.mainlandmart.com/aquapump.html
http://www.prosperityfountain.com/ulfog.html

I get my mini-pumps from Wishing Well Pottery -
http://www.wishingwellpottery.com - out of Oklahoma, but, they don't carry
foggers. They are, however, pleasant to deal with and have reasonable
prices.

Good luck.
