Dear Clayart members,=20

I am re-sending this post in its corrected form, which I accidentally
uploaded partially finished, (Profuse=20
apologies.) =20

..........................................................................=
......................................

Marta Matray Gloviczki - Silverhawk award winning ceramic artist. =20
Marta's work is informed by nature, and by characters from the theatre
in which she spent many years in Hungary before marrying settling in
the United States to raise her family. =20

By the way, Marta has given me the correct e-mail address for Jay
Jensen: =09
functionalpots@yahoo.com.=09

David Fry Ceramics - UK potter. Very fluid functional ware, rich,
layered glazes. Porcelain ware: plates, bowls, jugs. Also
archaeological restoration and reproduction of tiles and vessels.=20
Oriental glaze research results. Also article on Bernard Leach, with
a couple of Leach's etchings. =20

David Oswald - Australian potter working with a large palette of
glossy, often crystalline glazes and some matte glazes. Additions to
basic vessel shapes are often ornate, usually interesting. Decoration
is formal and definitely not run of the mill. Pages of glaze image
detail available for viewing. =20

Josh DeWeese - Fluid forms, woodfired stoneware and porcelain. The
porcelain pieces have luscious, mouth-watering glazes. Resident
Director of the Archie Bray Foundation for the Ceramic Arts in Helena
Montana. (There are links at the site to two other DeWeeses, Gennie
and Tina.)=20

At the William Traver Gallery site, there are several ceramists I
like: =20
Doug Jeck - pieces are figurative sculpture, quite challenging in
subject matter, but powerful. Size of pieces varies from
over-life-size to table pieces: =20

Jamie Walker - large functional vessels, often highly coloured forms
with contrasting massiness of the vessel and delicacy of the sculpted
floral arrangement rising from the vessel's mouth. Others are
metal-like large flared bowls, dark in colour. =20

Jun Kaneko - Monumental ceramic sculpture, often reminiscent of the
vessel, and of the human form. Studied under Soldner and Voulkos. =20
http://www.travergallery.com/artists/jk_main.html=09
Eric Nelson - His sculptures, though not so much to my particular
taste, still have something of interest. =20

Brian Hollingworth animal sculpture. Another British clay sculptor,
whose figurative raku work is whimsical yet serious. Besides the
images of his lovingly-observed sculptures of gorillas, bears, tigers,
etc. he gives some information about his making methods and kiln
building. Images at "Latest Work" and "Horses" can be clicked on to
enlarge them. =20

(Also worth a visit is one of the links on Brian's site, the SapArt
Studio whose many endearing animal sculptures will bring a smile to
your face:=09

Peter K=FChnis-Dietz - Click on "webcollection" or "unikate 1999/2000"
for images of this functional ceramist's gorgeous vessels in which
appetising form, heft, pattern, shine, and colour meet in a succulent
feast for the eye and makes the viewer want to reach right into the
computer screen to pick it up and hold it against the cheek, press
one's mouth to its sensuous rim. (Thumbnails are "clickable") (Note:
German text only). =20

Margaret Labounty - very rich sculptural work in clay and other media
expressing her Southwest Indian heritage.=09

I hope you enjoy these as much as I have. =20

Now I intend to do an update of the Clayart Members Web Pages List,
which I haven't updated since September, 2000. Since that time, many
more people have started up web sites. I doubt that I've been able to
catch all of them. If I miss some of you, I'm sorry, but even my
appetite for gleaning nuggets and jewels from the web and clayart
posts has its limits; some days I just skim down the digest quickly,
and move on to other things. =20

Happy surfing! =20
