empty bowl pricing

I think those “name potters” of yours have an inflated opinions of
themselves! This is supposed to be a charity donation, and they should just
participate in the goodness of the project and get their egos out of it. I
personally think the good will they would exhibit by their donation to the
cause would far outweigh whatever extra buck$ you could bring in from their
so-called better bowls. You time is worth something, too, and stewing about
whose is worth what is a waste of that! A donation is a donation! And some
people may cherish a small little one and not be at all interested in
someone’s so-called masterpiece. Tell your “name potters” to Get A Life,
and pray they never have to be the recipient of the charity you’re doing all
your fine work for!

My two bits worth, from chilly but bright Seattle. Grrrrrrrrrrrr.

I just re-read Chris' original post on this problem, and I don't think the
donating potters are deserving of bashing. I got the feeling from Chris'
post that SHE was the one confused about what to charge. With "90% of the
potter" not pricing their bowls, I would think that they assumed that, like
most Empty Bowls projects, these bowls would all be the same price! I
didn't read anything in that post that would make me think "inflated
opinion" or "ego". All I read was Chris' dilemma, and by now she surely has
read from other clayarters that the "rule" (breakable, of course) is that
all bowls are priced the same. The silent auction of "important" bowls is
an option, as well. Anyway, what's with this group lately? Spring fever?
Lurkers seem ready to jump on the "rant-wagon" at the drop of a hat! If
it's just a rant without one positive, helpful idea, what's the point of
posting it?

Dai in Kelowna, BC - whose bowls for the Kelowna project are signed "Empty
Bowls" rather than "Dai", as are some of the other potters' bowls. We want
them to remember the EVENT for as long as they have the bowl.
