My post about the Gail Nichols is all accurate except it is APRIL 6, 7, and

> I just got some more information on the Gail Nichols soda firing workshop
we
> are hosting on the weekend after NCECA, on March 6, 7, and 8. The total
> cost will be $150, and that is a hell of a deal. The workshop begins at
> 2:00 on Friday afternoon, and runs through Sunday whenever we get done
> unloading kilns and talking about the work. If you cannot show up until
> Friday evening or Saturday morning you are still welcome, because we will
> load one kiln on Friday night, and another on Saturday morning. That way
> everyone can get some work in the kilns. Participants will bring a dozen
or
> so bisque-fired pieces. You will glaze and soda-fire them during the
> workshop. While the kilns are firing, Gail will do throwing demos, slide
> shows, and discussions on soda-firing technology.
>
> As I mentioned in an earlier message, Gail is a much revered Austrailan
> potter, and is just now finishing a doctorate degree in soda firing
> technology. She is no doubt the first person in the world to receive a
PhD
> in soda firing. If you are committed to this firing process, you should
not
> miss this workshop.
>
> Anyone interested in receiving more information about the workshop should
> contact our secretary Gail Dost at gdost@tntech.edu. She also has a list
of
> area motels. There are some close by which are very reasonable. The
> regular housing is filled with students during the academic year, so
> workshop participants must stay off-campus.
> Best wishes -
