Vince,

>>
>> As I mentioned in an earlier message, Gail is a much revered Austrailan potter, and is just now finishing a doctorate degree in soda firing technology. She is no doubt the first person in the world to receive a PhD in soda firing. If you are committed to this firing process, you should not miss this workshop.

I'd just like to put my 2 cents in here. For me the thing about Gail's
work is not so much what she knows about soda firing but what she's done
with what she's learned. I believe that Gail is pushing soda firing in
an entirely new and beautiful direction. The Ceramics Monthly article
about her work appeared just before Denver NCECA so it must be Jan or
Feb. Please check it out.

I would go to this workshop at just about any cost because I find the
work so incredible and interesting, even though I don't do soda firing.
But, regretably, I can't because I'm giving a workshop the same weekend
in Arlington. Guess I gotta be there, huh? ;-)

In a VERY bizzare coincidence, searching for her old web site I
discovered that there is a Gail Nichols who is Regional Sales Manager
for Stearns & Foster matresses, recently mentioned on Clayart.

Ain't the worl' wunnerful!

The old web site, should you find it, is sorely out of date. Her work is
NOTHING like that now. Maybe she has a site up with her new work but
last time I checked, she said she hadn't had time.
