Hi Gayle, and Everybody!

I'm glad you didn't experience any damage to your works, and that you're
alive and well (shaken, no doubt).

A few years ago, I was high-firing some wares during a 4.6 Quake in Oakland,
CA. The quake didn't interrupt the power, thank goodness, since I was using
an electric kiln. But two of my tiles in the kiln split apart, apparently
during the brief shaker. I call them my "quake tiles," since the break
resembles the ground near "point zero" of an earthquake zone. I displayed the
tiles in a gallery show, and they got a lot of attention!

Best wishes!

Yucca Valley, CA No seismic activity here, but this is an active earthquake
area in CA.

I just wanted to let everyone know
that this morning I felt like I was
surfing while standing inside my house.
It was quite a ride!
We didn't lose anything.
My shelf of items to be bisqued didn't even
fall over! Hooray!

Only a few items in the house fell over.
Fortunately I had anchored most of my
valuable pottery etc. with museum putty.
Structurally our house looks fine.

My husband's building in Seattle appears
to have some damage. The news is showing a
lot of minor structural damage.

The damage could have been quite severe.
Apparently the depth of it (30 miles deep)
lessened the effect.

I'm glad I wasn't firing the kiln at that time!
That could have been interesting!

Whew!
