Another way to remove iron oxide from clothing is to make a paste of common
table salt and water, and use it to scrub the stained area. You'll have to
do a lot of scrubbing, but it doesn't harm or discolor the fabric. (At least
it didn't when I used it to clean a large stain off of some light colored
jeans.)
